Ingredients

4lb.apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
2cupsapple cider
1/2cupSplenda Brown Sugar Blend
1/3tsp.salt
3tsp.lemon juice
1 1/4tsp.cinnamon
1 1/2tsp.vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250° F.
  2. Combine the apples, cider, brown sugar blend, and salt in a large Dutch oven. Cook uncovered over medium-high heat. Bring to boiling, then reduce the heat and simmer until the apples are soft.
  3. Remove the apple mixture from the stovetop. Stir in the lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Puree the mixture in a blender.
  4. Return the apple mixture to the Dutch oven or place in a large baking pan. Bake uncovered for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until the mixture thickens and darkens. Remove it from the oven. Cool, then transfer to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Serve on pancakes, waffles, yogurt, biscuits, or lean pork.
